Church Family News 

Welcome to Alexander & Edward Dare, their family & friends as they are baptised today.

Thank You for the very generous leaving gift, we have used the money to do some very much needed painting and decorating.  Becky Guynn and family.

Open to ALL Parish Meetings about the Admission of Children to Communion before Confirmation will be held TODAY (Sun 20th October) in Room 5 & Wed. 23rd October, both after the 10am services. For a copy of PCC briefing paper, please ask the church office. 

Other church activities

Open The Book Holiday Club - Friday 25th October 10:00am - 2:30pm (parents/carers need to arrive to at 2:00pm for the performance). Pre-booking essential.  £3 per child. For more details please see flyers available in the Hub

Quiz Night - Friday 25th October 7.30pm in aid of Conservation in Tanzania with Cairenn Brown.  Tickets £5 (family discount), bring your own drink, compere Phil Greig.

 

Men's Breakfast - Saturday  26th Oct    9:00-10.30am  Venue - Christ Church . What’s it about?  Guilt and shame.  How to be reconciled to God  What’s the food? Cereal, orange juicebacon & egg bap, toast & jam plus coffee/tea, continental style breakfast also available (new option) - please specify if you would like this.  Cost: £3.00  Look out for the email to the men in the church coming soon.  This is a valuable time to build up friendships & develop support networks.

Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving – we will once again be holding a service of reflection and thanksgiving for all those who have lost a loved one, whether family member or friend.  The service will be on Sunday 27th October, at 3pm followed by tea.  Invitation cards are available at the back of church.  Offers of cakes to Kay Berrington, please.

Rainbow party Thursday 31st October 5-6pm @ Christ Church.  A chance to play some games, do some crafts have a party tea and dress up in brightly coloured clothes (if you want to).  It is aimed at those at Primary school, but all are welcome.  If you are able to help with this event, for example making sandwiches, or coming to help tidy up, please contact Gillian Lindley.

Welcome Tea  – Church Halls – Sunday, 3rd November from 4.30pm. Tea and cake, chat and a chance to meet other church members. If you’ve recently started worshipping here, we would like to send you an invitation, please let Kathryn (Vicar's PA) know.

Men's Social - on Saturday 9th November.  See the Bedford Blues against Newcastle at Bedford Rugby Club.  Meet pre match at the Fox and Hounds, Goldington Rd from 12:30pm or at the ground at the start of the match.  Purchase your own ticket online

Grease Night Saturday 9th November 7-10pm come to our American diner for an evening of good fun and dance - lesson included! Tickets £10 adults £5 children/students from Gillian Lindley. Proceeds to Home of Hope Malawi.  

The Big Quiz Night Saturday 16th November 7pm, an epic evening in aid of Tearfund.  Every pound raised will help transform the lives of people living in poverty.  Max team size - 6. Suggested donation per team - £20. Hosts - Claire Broughton-Welsh and Nick Hearn.  Just turn up on the night, bring a team or form one on the evening.  Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.  For more details see tearfund.org/quiz

Lunch Club Christmas Lunch Tuesday 10th December, 12.45pm. If you, a relative, friend or neighbour, would like to come along to our Christmas Lunch for seniors, £8 for a wonderful Christmas lunch, please buy your ticket from the Church Office once they go on sale at 12.15pm on Tuesday 22nd October.  First come first served - 80 tickets available  

Other Notices

Home Groups – Sunday morning sermon series always bears further discussion. Home groups offer opportunities to deepen faith & friendships as we live out our faith during the week.  Groups meet at different times/locations. Some have vacancies. To join a group, contact our coordinators: John Bell/Pauline Barber (details on final page).

Volunteersrequired for Audio-Visual, Sound Desk and Lock Up Security Team.  For further details see last week's notice sheet or contact the office.

Bedford Foodbank - Tesco Food Collection (both Bedford stores) from 21st to 23rd November.  Can you spare 1 or 2 hours to assist, handing out shopping lists and inviting people to contribute? To volunteer speak to any of the Christ Church Foodbank team.

Yarl’s Wood Befrienders are looking to recruit a new full-time CEO. If you’d like to find out more, talk to Michael Bishop.

Bedford Soup Run - Volunteers needed (approx once a month) to help at the Bedford soup run on De Parys Avenue on a Friday evening at 7pm for about 30 minutes.  You would always be on duty with others.  Please see John and Fiona Betteley
