PCC News – The PCC had good discussions about
a) Mission Action Plan – to be reviewed for 2020 APCM b) admission of children to Communion before Confirmation – approved so preparation for interested children will commence shortly c) finances – delight in HRV funds raised, better news on general account but still a matter of prayer for all of us d) Staffing: 'administry' – Pauline, Dawn and Kathryn’s roles (as agreed with them) are amended: Pauline in charge (Centre Office Manager), assisted by Dawn (Centre Hiring Administrator) and Kathryn (Vicar’s PA), and new roles of Site Manager (5 hrs/week) and weekend cleaner (5 hrs) e) Staffing: children's minister - now recruiting half time role. Exploring and Growing your faith and your family’s faith
Exploring Confirmation (and/or Baptism) – Taking your next step on your faith journey. Richard is meeting those interested in exploring baptism and/or confirmation this autumn with a series of conversations – last chance to join this week Tuesday 7.30pm in Room 4.
GROW Group – new course for all those recent (and fairly recent) Alpha guests wanting to know so much more. Studying a Bible overview this term. Starting Tuesday 24th Sept at 7.30pm in church halls (Room 5) – for more info, please see Michael Bishop.
Alpha – Next course starts Tuesday 1st October at 7.30pm. Alpha explores the meaning of life over 10 weeks, whilst finding out about Jesus and the Christian faith. Topics include: Who is Jesus? Why did he die? How do I pray? Does God guide? How do I read the Bible? Each session involves refreshments, a talk and discussion. Is this for you or for a friend/ neighbour? Invitation cards are available in church and in the Hub.
Home Groups – Sunday morning sermon series always bears further discussion. Home groups offer opportunities to deepen faith & friendships as we live out our faith during the week. Groups meet at different times/locations. Some have vacancies. To join a group, contact our coordinators: John Bell or Pauline Barber.

Men's Breakfast Unfortunately this will not be happening in September but will continue as normal on 26th October.
Men's Social Thursday 3rd October Bedford Beer Festival at Bedford Corn Exchange. Meet in the Howard Room (upstairs) from 7pm.
Ladies Social Thursday 3rd October 7.30-9pm at Papillon, 133 Castle Road.
Harvest greenery: if you can donate greenery to help decorate the Church, please will you leave it beside the bike racks at the Denmark St side entrance on Friday October 4th. We are looking for assorted foliage - including trailing - plus orange Physalis heads (Chinese Lanterns) and dried seed heads. Harvest produce: please can you bring any donations of fresh/tinned/packeted food on Saturday October 5th between 9-10am. All gifts will be given to Food Bank after Harvest weekend. Malawi 2020 & 2021 Plans for future visits to Home of Hope are underway: Adults in 2020, and Teens in 2021. Contact Alex Mnatzaganian, then find out more by coming to an information meeting 3.30-5pm on Sunday 6th October in church.
Lock Up Security Team – We need a few more people to join the team locking up at about 10pm? Full induction and training provided. It takes about 10 minutes to walk round, check the locks and secure the main doors. Will you join them and walk round one evening a week/fortnight for this vital role? If you are interested in offering or would like to know more please contact Dawn Hire
The Word Bookshop – Joy and Martin are looking to retire early next year and wish to hand on this viable and useful Christian business. More information with Church Office.
Foodbank – please bring non-perishable donations any Sunday & place in labelled box in The Hub. Particular needs THIS MONTH: fruit juice (long life), tinned fruit, jars of pasta sauce, rice (1kg), tinned vegetables, tin openers, cleaning spray, washing-up liquid and old saucepans.
