Can you help us in making followers of Jesus?

 Leaflet Bundling We are looking to distribute an invitation to Apples in the Orchard (29th September 3-5pm) and our next Alpha course to every home in the parish.  If you are able to help bundle leaflets for delivery, please come to The Hub at 10am on Thursday 12th September.

Help wanted Kay Berrington will be looking for people to sign up to help with this event. We need stewards, first aiders, games supervisors, refreshments servers, rubbish collectors and furniture removers.

Sign-up sheet If you are coming to the afternoon tea, please could you sign up on the sheet in The Hub, so we have some idea of numbers. Thank you

AV TeamAudio-Visual operators - Do you enjoy being able to follow our services on the screen? If so please consider joining the AV team!  We need more volunteers to help project our services – approx. once/month. Full training given.  Please speak to David Currie.

Funeral of Pauline Curran (recent regular at 8.30am) is at Bedford Crematorium on Tuesday 10th September at 12.15pm.


Exploring and Growing your faith and your family’s faith

TODAY Your child & Holy Communion – Richard & Becky wish to meet all parents/carers for Q&A session regarding PCC consultation on children receiving Communion before Confirmation. After 10am service, Sunday 8th Sept in Room 5 (children welcome, care provided). Good opportunity to find out more, theological reason, answer questions. 

Exploring Confirmation (and/or Baptism) – Taking your next step on your faith journey. Richard is meeting those interested in exploring baptism and/or confirmation this autumn with a series of Tuesday evening conversations, starting Tuesday 17th Sept, 7.30pm in Room 4. Such conversations could, if wished, be marked through our Confirmation Service, Sunday 24th November at 10am with Bishop Michael.

4 Counties Ministry Training Course (4CMTC) Year-long course (30 weeks) taking place weekly at Christ Church from Thursday 19th Sept (10.30am-4.30pm). Cost £200/term or £100/half-term. The Course covers the whole Bible in good detail, together with important doctrines and practical pastoral work. It’s a great way to strengthen your Bible knowledge and learn to apply it. They have a website here.

GROW Group – new course for all those recent (and fairly recent) Alpha guests wanting to know so much more. Studying a Bible overview this term. Starting Tuesday 24th Sept at 7.30pm in church halls (Room 5) – for more info, please see Michael Bishop.

Alpha – Next course starts Tuesday 1st October at 7.30pm. Alpha explores the meaning of life over 10 weeks, whilst finding out about Jesus and the Christian faith. Topics include: Who is Jesus? Why did he die? How do I pray? Does God guide? How do I read the Bible? Each session involves refreshments, a talk and discussion. Is this for you or for a friend/ neighbour?  Invitation cards are available in church and in the Hub.

Home Groups – Sunday morning sermon series always bears further discussion. Home groups offer opportunities to deepen faith & friendships as we live out our faith during the week.  Groups meet at different times/locations. Some have vacancies.  To join a group, contact our coordinators: John Bell/Pauline Barber.

Other church activities

Kitchen Assisting Friday 27th September, 7-9pm Richard will be hosting a thank you dinner for the Church Wardens in the Deanery. We are looking for assistance with washing up. If you are able to help in any way, please contact Kathryn Hughes.

Wanted: Old Board Games – Have you got any old board games that you don't use and want to get rid of? AJ would like to have them for our youth groups – need to be in good condition and age-appropriate. Please leave at church over the next few weeks.

Bike n' Hike 2019 in aid of the Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trust is on Saturday 14th Sept. We need people to greet visitors to Christ Church from 9am-5pm, please sign up on the form in the hub if you can help.  Also in the Hub is Richard's sponsorship form or donate via our Just Giving Page.

Malawi 2020 & 2021 Plans for future visits to Home of Hope are underway: Adults in 2020, and Teens in 2021. To register interest contact Alex Mnatzaganian, then find out more by coming to an information meeting 3.30-5pm on Sunday 6th October in church.
