*** NEW *** Summer Sermon Series
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matt 19:14) He saw and welcomed the children.
The Apostle Paul in Philippi also welcomed whole households in to baptism and faith: “One of those listening was a woman … named Lydia … The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. When she and the members of her household were baptised, she invited us to her home. … [Later] The jailer … fell trembling before Paul and Silas … ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.’ … immediately he and all his household were baptised. … The jailer … was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God – he and his whole household.” (Acts 16)
In Richard’s Vicar’s Report at the Annual Meeting, he highlighted the need to welcome and grow the number of young families worshipping with us. Our new sermon series will let us explore over the summer weeks how the children were welcomed in the early church, and how we can include them in all parts of our worship.
