Church Family News  

Becky Guynn- Congratulations to Becky on her appointment as Primary Schools Worker with IMPACT, Bedford’s Christian schools ministry which we support. We’re delighted for Becky and that her family intend to remain worshipping with us. The Wardens, Chair of YPIG and Richard will be reviewing the role for the next PCC meeting.

PCC News – latest update and 24 hours of prayer

Sunday 9th June is GIFT DAY for £70,000, final sum for the new halls. Please pray that God will supply this full amount, so we can look forward to their growing use.

GIFT DAY - 24 hours of prayer – from Noon Friday 7th June to Saturday 8th June. There are 30 minute led prayer times during this 24 hours period at the following times:

Friday - Noon / 4pm / 8pm / Midnight              and Saturday - 4am / 8am / Noon

Thy Kingdom Come – Archbishops’ prayer initiative

ALL THIS WEEK – Room 4 has excellent, helpful ‘stations’ to inform your prayers for our nation and for many to be become new disciples of Jesus. More details here

Beacon Celebration at St Albans Cathedral

Sunday 9th June 6.30pm. Great opportunity to gather from across our Diocese to worship with Soul Survivor and to pray for a movement of the Spirit to draw thousands to new faith in Christ our Lord and Saviour. Join Richard and others for this inspiring event.

Cars/lifts leave Christ Church at 5pm, returning 9pm (approx.) – Is someone able to drive a minibus for us? See Richard

NB: there is no Messy Sunday or evening service at Christ Church next Sunday (9th June)

Pilgrimage to Westminster Abbey Wednesday 5th June Visit "the nation's parish church", with a chance to reflect and pray as we go around.  You are invited to join members of Cople, Moggerhanger and Willington churches (led by Fiona Gibson). Ladies' Social - Thursday 6th June 7.30-9pm Meet at Papillon (133 Castle Road) for chat, drinks and cake.  If you can, please sign up in by the pigeon holes. All ladies welcome.

Go for Gold-Friday 7h June 2-4pm Our visiting speaker, Claire Pick, will be talking about the Bedford Embankment flower displays.  Refreshments provided, donation £1.      

The Boy who Harnessed the Wind Friday 7th June at 7pm,free film screening at St John's Church, Bedford, a good opportunity to invite friends to watch a film in a slightly quirky location and an opportunity to donate to the Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi.

In the ArenaThurs 13th June – 7.30pm in Cambridge. Evening Conference to equip men for life’s challenges. Excellent opportunity to explore how God strengthens and equips you for running the race. £7. More info from John Betteley or Richard Hibbert.

Ladies Weekend Away, 28th-30th June at The Garden House, Stamford.  We have 30 ladies joining us, we have a few spaces left for staying over for the weekend and we would love it if ladies wanted to join us for the day on Saturday. Contact Rachel Bennett.

Malawi Quiz Night Saturday 29th June at 7pm. Make your own team of 6 or we can match you up. Tickets: Adults - £10, Students - £7.  Ploughman's supper included in price.  Licensed bar, cake stall and raffle. Please support this last large fundraising event before the trip. Hawking, Dawkins and God:  Science and Religion in Contemporary CultureSt Albans Cathedral are hosting a lecture on 7.30pm 10th July in which Professor David Wilkinson reflects on the current situation of science and faith and suggests ways forward for education, apologetics and Christian mission. Morning Out Leader / Magazine Editor / Home Group Coordinator – 3 roles coming free this summer – can you pray if this is where you can serve God’s work at Christ Church.

Anniversary of the Ordination of Women to the Priesthood – Special service will be held at Noon on Wednesday 5 June at Flitwick Parish Church, followed by lunch. All welcome.

Ian Brown writes "Thank you all for your prayer and support over these last months, you have made it all easier for the two of us to cope with the situation. Please continue, my rehabilitation is not over yet. At the start of the year I was mostly stuck in a wheelchair and now I’m mostly using a crutch – a massive improvement. Thank you also for your visits and for looking after Katharine. Thank you."
