Parenting for Faith Monday 21st January – 8pm in Room 5

Want to help the children and young people you love find God in everyday life? This course is for you! It’s not just mums and dads who long for children and teens to know God for themselves. Whether you’re a parent, carer, family member, friend, or church worker or leader, you can help the young people in your life develop a vibrant and connected relationship with God – whatever their age! The Parenting for Faith video-based course gives you confidence to share your life with God in a way that feels natural to you – and the tools to do it easily. More details from Becky or AJ or parentingforfaith.org. No pre-booking needed, though letting us know helps with refreshments.

Sunday 27th JanuaryMalawi Lunch – 12.30pm – You are warmly invited by the Malawi team to stay for lunch after the 10am service to learn more about the Home of Hope and meet the team going to Malawi in summer 2019. There are no tickets for this event but if you are able to sign up to indicate your interest (see Kay Berrington or Jo Addis) that would help greatly with catering.  Donations given will be split between the Home of Hope and contributing towards the air fares.

Other notices and activities

Is God calling you?Are you wondering about a call to some kind of public ministry in God's church? Free Diocesan event being held at Christ Church on Saturday 16th February from 9.30am-1.30pm to help you explore this.  Includes speakers, discussion, question and answer session and lunch. Flyers with more details available at the back of church and in the Hub.

A book club – grappling with books on Christian theology and modern life? If you like to stretch your intellectual muscles and have serious discussions, then join Jude Hamilton and others to reflect and discuss an interesting book (E.g. Paradoxology by Krish Kandiah, A Better Life by Glynn Harrison, God’s Undertaker by John Lennox, According to Plan by Graeme Goldsworthy). Perhaps not mainstream, but if you’re out there, prepared to commit to the reading, and unintimidated by robust discussion, please contact Jude.

Morning Out – serving Bedford families for over 40 years, we still see over 40 children and their carers each week (there were 102, including helpers on Friday). Most carers have made it part of their weekly routine, bringing siblings and making friends.

We need more volunteers to keep it running effectively, serving refreshments, helping on the craft table, preparing resources and just having a chat with someone.

There’s a great ministry in putting a cup of tea into a mum’s hands, talking about last night's TV or doing a jigsaw with a child that should not be undervalued: it may be the only time that week when a mother/father/carer feels cared about. Contact Jen McAdam for more info.

Foodbank – please bring non-perishable donations any Sunday & place in labelled box at church. Particular needs THIS MONTH: teabags (40s/80s), fruit juice (long life), tinned fruit, & rice pudding, jars of pasta sauce, rice (250g/500g), jam, tinned vegetables, spaghetti, fish & meat (casserole/stew), UHT milk, cup a soup.
