Congratulations to Paul Boulter

Appointment: Vicar of Caton with Littledale St Paul and Over Kellet St Cuthbert, Forest of Bowland, north Lancs.

His Licensing is Tuesday 18th September at 7.30pm at Caton.  A coach and hotel/ travel lodge is being arranged – please contact Rachel Bennett by 5th August to potentially reserve your space.

Please pray for Paul, Katharine, Sam, Simeon, Isaac and Benjamin, who will be greatly missed. We will be saying farewell to them one Sunday, before they move on

For your diary this week

Mini Beast Safari in Priory Country Park. Becky has organised two events for families, the first on Monday 23rdJuly to try pond dipping, and the next on Wednesday 25thJuly for meadow sweeping (all equipment needed will be provided). We will have a selection of other nature/mini beast themed things happening such as a nature scavenger hunt, nature crafts, butterfly count and fun games! All children must be accompanied by an adult and remain the adult’s responsibility at all times! Please wear old clothes you don't mind getting messy.  Bring a picnic, rug, a sunhat and sun cream.  In the event of very wet weather … surely not! Please check beforehand.  Meet at 11am at Country Park car park.

PCC - latest Halls news – Halls scaffolding down, completion late August, Jeakins Weir are working hard. Plans for fitting out and return of present hirers in Sept are in place.

Wood from construction - more pallets and spare timber available from the north lawn. FREE or donations, if wished, via box in church or through Vicarage Door.

Christ Church Centre Manager - Job vacancy – half-time (20 hours)

We are looking for a dynamic and well organised Centre Manager to take forward our work within the church and the community. You are excited to be:

Our first point of contact for hirers, potential hirers and users in person, representing Christ Church to our community;

            Our main hospitality welcomer for all users of the halls, making everyone feel at home and promoting church life and activities;

            Overseeing the lettings contracts and inspiring the team of volunteers supporting the day to day running of the halls;

            Reaching out to those currently unconnected to church through marketing our new halls.

We seek a committed Christian, whose experience and passion prepares them to be a dynamic agent of God’s grace and love to our church and community.

Soup run for the homeless helpers wanted Friday evenings central Bedford. Usually rota-ed once a month with at least one other helper.  For further information please speak to Steve and Katherine Davies or John Betteley.

Bike 'n Hike – Saturday 8th September. If you would like to raise money for Christ Church and the Beds and Herts Historic Churches Trust and enjoy a good cycle ride, please obtain sponsor forms from the Church Office.  Richard Hibbert is looking for co-riders – you?

Foodbank – please bring non-perishable donations any Sunday & place in labelled box at church. Particular needs TODAY: teabags (40s/80s), fruit juice (long life), sponge puddings (long life), tinned fruit, custard & rice pudding, cup a soup, tinned spaghetti, jars of pasta sauce, rice (up to 500g), squash, jam, tinned fish & meat (casserole/stew), washing up liquid, deodorant (unisex), shower gel (unisex), toilet rolls & laundry washing tablets. 

Training for East Anglia Ministry (TEAM) new brochures are available for next term.  The course is in Cambridge on Wednesdays from 10am-4pm.  Recommended by Sidney Miller.

St Andrew's Church Silent Retreat Friday 7th - Sunday 9th September at Pleshey (Essex) Retreat House, reflections based on the Lord's Prayer. Cost £160, brochures available.
