When he wrote his wonderfully, practical letter to the early church, James included some straight advice to any of his readers who – though they believed the right things – were paying too little attention to putting them into practice: “Do not merely listen to the word... Do what it says.” (James 1: 22). But
how do you purposefully “do what the word says”, learning to live more and more in the good of what you believe?
In this mini-series drawing on the book of James, Alan Cottenden will use the first of four sessions to sketch out some biblical principles, and the rest to apply them very practically to three life challenges as familiar to us today as they would have been to James’ first readers: living wisely; maturing through trouble; and taming the tongue.
